What's your secret sauce?

Want to get motivated to smash out those goals? Time to write your own recipe!

Some self-reflection time.

If you are like most people, you are always after a quick fix. How do I get what I want in the easiest and most convenient way?

Is there such a thing?

Well, there is, sort of....kind of.

I don't know that I would call it a quick fix, but what you can do is find your secret sauce formula for lighting a fire under you to get moving in the direction you want.

So what?

Once you are moving in the direction you want... well, the rest is herstory! Seriously. You just need to gain some momentum and then it will all be set into motion and you can get ready to see some mighty fine results.

You don't get the ass you want, by sitting on it.

Big moments and gestures are overrated. They are not what life is made of or how we make a difference in our lives. It is all about the small stuff.

Want to figure yours out?

It's time to do some self-reflection as the answer is already in you. This is about digging deep and figuring out why you want what it is you want.

Your heart is all about the energy & motivation.

Your mind is all about the planning & direction.

The key is find your why that they BOTH agree on. When you truly find your North Star, it's not going to feel like hard work. It's going to feel like a pair of the perfect fitting skinny jeans and you are going to want to take them out for a good time!

Here are a few prompts to help you get to yours.

  • When I think back to being a kid in school, the one thing that really motivated me to get a good grade was________.

  • In my daily life at work, the best way to motivate myself is with ________.

  • Are you more motivated when doing something on your own or with a friend, or even in a group?

  • Do you prefer a well organised daily plan or a rough framework so that you can be more flexible?

  • Do you like to set up rules for yourself?

  • How about rewards? Does it help you to plan a reward once you achieve something?

  • Do you need someone to help hold you accountable? Is it helpful to share what you are trying to achieve with a friend or your partner?

  • Is it helpful when you are sharing the journey with others?

  • When you think to the last time you achieved something big in your life, what was the key motivator that got you moving?

  • And the best way to figure out your why.... keep asking yourself, why? Yep, every time you come up with why & how you want to achieve something, ask yourself one more time, why is that?

For some extra fun, head to Gretchen Rubin's online quiz to find out what your natural tendancies are. This online quiz will help target what motivates you - internal, external, rules, no rules...you get the picture!
